"Maple Leaf Chinese"Series Textbooks

 “Maple Leaf Chinese” is a series of textbooks designed and developed for Chinese learners at the stage K-12, based on Maple Leaf Education System's more than 20 years of practical experience in international Chinese teaching, closely following international and national standards. The textbook is divided into 15 volumes of "five stages and nine levels", which scientifically and systematically present the level of language knowledge and culture, and shows real, comprehensive, and three-dimensional China so that it allows students to learn pure Chinese with strong interest.

Designed for Chinese learners at stage K-12 

The main learning motivation of K -12 learners is interest, they are still in a low emotional filtering stage. It is easier to establish a sense of language, perceive culture, and learn authentic Chinese. If learners are interested in the culture and even lifestyle of the target language countries and even desire to know more about those countries, it will certainly make their learning motivation stronger and more durable. Therefore, culture is an important factor in improving the learning interest of K-12 Chinese learners. They not only regard Chinese as a communication tool but also hope to have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture through learning.​

​Therefore, in the process of compiling the Maple Leaf Chinese series, the content is selected to match the minds and life experiences of K-12 learners, to closely match the actual needs and language acquisition characteristics of K-12 learners, to follow the principle of combining structure-function-culture, to be student-centered, to be skilled use oriented, to develop cross-cultural communication skills, to immerse Chinese culture, and to uphold the concept of "Chinese characters as the base, culture as the body, interest as the basis, and grading as the outline". The Chinese cultural content of the textbook has been increased, and the cultural corpus accounts for 76% of the textbook.​

Graded teaching materials closely following official standards

On the basis of fully absorbing more than 20 years of practical experience in international courses and graded teaching of Chinese, the Maple Leaf Chinese series courses have carried out the construction and innovation of teaching material resources around the national standard Grading Standards for Chinese Language Level in International Chinese Education (GF0025-2021) and the international K-12 language teaching 5C standard. Considering the inherent hierarchy and cognitive laws of Chinese culture, the cultural content has been graded and refined on the basis of language grading. The cultural content follows the principle of concrete to abstract, and gradually transits from the shallow culture to the deeper culture, so as to compile a set of Chinese teaching materials with both language grading and culture grading.
